telugutanam..

Sattriraju Lakshmi Narayana, also known as Bapu re-defined TeluguTanam through his paintings and sketches. He along with artists like Satyam Shankaramanchi and Mullapudi VenkataRamana gave life through Colors to many characters that were confined to book. Bapu holds the honor of depicting the Ramayana through paintings. In his paintings, characters like Shiva, Bhima,Dhuryodhana look distinctly male with wide chests, bigger jaws and large biceps, while Krishna and Rama are rather more feminine in build. All his female characters have doe-like eyes, a noticeable waist to hip ratio, voluptuous breasts, long hair and a sharp nose. In fact, the phrase Bapu Bommahas become synonymous with a beautiful Telugu girl, thus redefining the phrase "padaharu anala telugutanam". Another character called Rendu Jadala Seetha later became a synonym for any girl wearing two plaits. As a gesture of recognition of his art and devotion to Ramayana, he was bestowed with the beautification of Bhadrachalam, a place of prominence for Hindus.
